Whats on this Summer at the Sunshine Coast Theme Parks

AUSSIE WORLD TAKES THE PLUNGE!

We’ve opened yet another new attraction and this one is the first of its type on the Sunshine Coast.  The new ride is a log flume ride called The Plunge with not one but two steep climbs and drop-offs.  Riders climb aboard hollowed-out logs that are propelled by flowing water through a waterway before climbing upwards then plunging down a ramp at great speed…..twice!  Riders and spectators will be treated to a water splash created by the downhill momentum of The Plunge.  An entertaining way to cool off on a hot Queensland day!

There’s no better time to visit Aussie World this Summer and try out The Plunge – guaranteed to wet your pants!

Australia Day Dunny Race:- On the 26th January every year Aussie World and the Ettamogah Pub hold a very unique and successful Australia Day event involving Dunny Races and a Ute Show.  We’re currently recruiting teams for the Dunny Races so if you think you’re up to it, and want to be known as Dunny Race Champions of the World, contact marketing@aussieworld.com.au for an application form.

Trip Advisor Review for San Marino:

”Yet another EXCELENT stay at the San Marino by the Sea.”

Reviewed 21 November 2011

We love staying at the San Marino. This is our fourth stay in five years (my wife will corrrect me if I’m mistaken). The patrolled beach is great, as it is straight in front of the Motel with no road between, just sand dunes and trees. the Motel facilities are super clean and well maintained, and it’s in close proximity to Convenience Shops, Servo, Restaraunts, Hot Bread Shop, and the Airport. You don’t have to drive anywhere, and the car parks are all under cover.

Room Tip: Floors 3 & up have ocean views, but all of the rooms we have stayed in have been Excelent

Suncoast Boulevard Streetscape – David Low Way Marcoola

Great news to all who enjoy this area for their regular or first time holiday breaks.

The David Low Way tourist strip at Marcoola is having a facelift. Main Roads are street-scaping the area making the Marcoola tourist strip a ‘place’ rather than just a way to get from Marcoochydore to Coolum.

Project scope

The Suncoast Boulevard Revitalisation Project will:

  • give priority to pedestrians and cyclists through the installation of traffic calming devices and improved pedestrian crossing opportunities
  • create a shady beachside atmosphere with the installation of trees and planted seating areas
  • create an attractive, safe and connected coastal village centre, that is a focus for the community and tourist activities.

Project update

Stage 1 will commence mid October 2011 with the construction of the Rex Terrace roundabout. Council anticipates construction will be finalised by the December 2011 school holidays. Traffic control for vehicles and pedestrians will be in place as required.

Overview

Stage 1 of the Suncoast Boulevard Streetscape Project is the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Rex Terrace and Suncoast Boulevard, David Low Way, Marcoola.

Work will include the following:

  • upgrades to drainage
  • road lighting
  • new tree and garden planting
  • road works
  • pedestrian/cycle pathway
  • installation of street furniture.

Stage 2 will focus on the creation of a new village square at the end of Lexie Street and an upgrade of the retail frontage to link the north and south.

Together with Debbie Blumel’s support the North Coast Traders have been pushing for this work for years. It is great to see it coming into fruition.

Whale watching in Hervey Bay… Have you done it yet??? It’s a must do…

Hervey Bay has to be the best place in the world for whale watching.

We have been on 3 whale watch tours now and  the Storeyline Tours
whle watching trip to Hervey Bay was the best. Thanks Sue and driver Paul as well as the Boat Crew from Tasman Venture for a wonderful day out.

We love to look out and spot whales from our Holiday Apartments at Marcoola.
We have also often seen them when out on boat going scuba diving or fishing. We also always stop in at Whale watching viewing points at places like Warrnambool Victoria, Head off the Bight Nullabor S.A.,  Byron Bay, Kaikoura New Zealand, Glacier Bay Alaska (from cruise ship).

I have seen whales frequently but always at a distance. Even on Whale watching tours out of Freemantle and The Orca (Killer Whale) tour from Victoria (Vancouver Island) the whales  always seem to be several hundred metres away. In Hervey Bay the whales often come right up next to the boat and give you an awesome close up experience.

It has to be the best place for close up viewing. Close Up Humpback Whale

Storeyline pick you up from your doorstep and make the way
up to Hervey Bay. Stopping at Kybong for some morning tea and then onwards to Maryborough where they take in a few of the historical sites on the way through the city to Hervey Bay. Lunch is provided at a restaurant on the Marina and then it time to get onto the Tasman Venture.
